The training for home health aides in New York requires a good deal of education and practical experience.

Home health aide training in NYC consists of a total of 75 hours of education and practical experience. 59 hours (40 in the classroom and 19 in a health related task curriculum) are spent in the classroom, and 16 hours are spent performing supervised practical training.

The prospective home health aide has 60 days to complete all 75 hours of training. You may waive training in certain circumstances if you qualify to take a competency evaluation instead.
